{"id":681,"date":"2021-01-29T14:33:29","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T14:33:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sedapds.com\/?p=681"},"modified":"2022-09-21T10:37:34","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T09:37:34","slug":"claire-patterson-as-co-lead-author-in-high-impact-complex-targeted-nanomedicine-dendrimer-publication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sedapds.com\/news\/claire-patterson-as-co-lead-author-in-high-impact-complex-targeted-nanomedicine-dendrimer-publication\/","title":{"rendered":"Claire Patterson as co-lead author in high impact complex targeted nanomedicine (dendrimer) publication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/claire-patterson-933027a1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claire Patterson<\/a>,\u00a0Srividya Balachander, Iain Grant\u00a0 et al. present the <a href=\"https:\/\/rdcu.be\/ceeiJ\">Design and optimisation of dendrimer-conjugated Bcl-2\/x<sub>L<\/sub> inhibitor, AZD0466, with improved therapeutic index for cancer therapy<\/a> The publication describes the use of preclinical and mathematical models to determine the optimal release rate of the drug from the dendrimer, a passively targetted nanomedicine.<\/p>\n<p>The AZD4320-dendrimer conjugate (AZD0466) identified, through mathematical modelling, resulted in an improved therapeutic index and thus enabled progression of this promising dual Bcl-2\/Bcl-x<sub>L<\/sub> inhibitor into clinical development (<a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT04214093\">NCT04214093<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>This work was a collaborative effort between <a href=\"https:\/\/starpharma.com\/\">Starpharma<\/a> (using their <a href=\"https:\/\/starpharma.com\/drug_delivery\">DEP<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> dendrimer platform<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astrazeneca.com\/\">AstraZeneca<\/a> (where Claire was formerly employed).
